  2. Now that is a long time ago. A great photo. I had the privilege of living in Dubai between 1989 and 1999 and only witnessed the beginning of the transition to the Dubai of today. Perhaps it’s an age thing but I am so glad I had the experience I did. Please keep these photos coming. I get huge pleasure from the memories they spark and I am guessing others do to. Thank you.

  5. Clock Tower was a marker driving from Muscat in 1978.

  6. We knew a local guy his name was Juma who told us his house was where the clock tower was built. He was a Club member & his boat was moored at the Intercon Marina near ours.

  8. When was that picture taken? I was there in the 70s, and there were buildings around it then – the apartment block for example. I worked at Dubai Broadcasting Station that was also just off it.

  10. I was beside hh sh rashid when he uncovered the plaque to open the clock tower underpass he did this from his car as he was not in good health this was his last public appearance he was a great man and enjoyed my visits to him with regards to telecoms andrew millar

  11. We were there from 1973 until 1986 – loved it – tallest building latterly was the trade centre

  17. I was beside hh sh Rashid when uncovered a plaque to open the underpass at the clock tower hi did this from his car as he was unwell at the time this was the last public appearance of the great man he was, I enjoy my visits to him to deal with telecoms Andrew Andrew Millar

  18. In 75 we hv seen deserted round about near clock tower. There was an automatic bakery close bye
