Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is now enforcing the Dubai Parking Law, and this means that the minimum parking charges across Dubai have doubled. The first hour of parking will set you back 2 AED now instead of 1 AED in some areas said an RTA spokesperson. RTA workers will update 100 – 150 parking meters daily in the coming 2 weeks. More than 2,500 meters will be adjusted.
The parking meters which used to charge 2 AED per hour already will stay at this rate. Also parking cards will have no change in price yet. “The original parking law priced the first hour at 2 AED, but over the last few years areas that have not been in the city center have been priced at just AED1. We are now implementing the law to its full force. There’s no more inner city and outer city areas, everything has been connected, so we have to standardize prices. The RTA is really trying to make Dubai Metro successful, what do you think?
