Yes he had a nice break then what do they set him to do ? Why of course they set him for a Grp 1 10f race 1st up from a 5 month spell in the 3rd country and continent he’s raced in his last 3 starts and on a surface he’s never seen in his life !! Imagine Cecil doing that to Frankel. He would be a laughing stock. You can say they are excuses, they are BUT they are damn good ones…..
I don’t give a rat’s a** how Mickael stood up. This is Dubai not New York!!! He’s riding for Sheik Mo not one of the Dinnie. If His Highnes didn’t get mad, why should it bother anyone else?
the horse ran 8 times over 10F and once over 12f, left or right handed is just another test of a horses ability, fair enough the trip to america was at the end of a long season but he he’s had a nice break since then, and racing in Ire Eng and Fra is hardly a grueling trip for the horse, it happens every week over here.
I think you would have found him running in a Japan Cup for sure. There’s no doubt whatsoever Bart handled the horse better than what Aiden O’Brien has done with him. If he was trained along similar lines to what he was used to I have no doubt there would have been even better results. You don’t keep horses going for 7 – 8 months, increase their distance, drop back in distance, race left handed, right handed, on turf on dirt in 4 countries & 2 continents all in the same prep…Please !
if he had stayed with Bart he would never have got a chance overseas, he’d have stayed in Oz and dominated for the next few years, and you guys be telling the world how if he DID go overseas he would have won the Arc the Breeders cup and the Dubai world cup,i love the horse and hes never been disgraced in any of his runs but its very hard to travel the world and dominate all the big races.
Remember AOB’s 3 horses in the Melb Cup a few years ago ? All 3 went out and led them up. They sat 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the run and where did they finish ? 18th (Septimus – was coming off 4 wins in a row incl Grp 3, 2 x Grp 2 & Grp 1), 20th (Allesandro Volta) & 21st and last (Honolulu). Yep, he can sure train some dash into his horses. Great trainer or is it he gets so much great horse flesh to train courtesy of Coolmore ?
No glory for So You Think but some glory for the Aussies with Ortensia , also interesting to note Monterosso comes from a very strong Australian family. His dam Porto Roca won the G1 Coolmore Classic in 2001. We aren’t totally hopeless.
Aiden O’Brian has done what a lot of English trainers do and trained the turn of foot out of the horse. How did he not deliver in the Arc though, i suppose only making up about 20 lengths isn’t that good.

RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN
I know Tapeta isn’t dirt, but what I was trying to interpret is that anything other than actual turf doesn’t seem to really suit So You Think.
nice race
