RAK Traffic Police said the incident took place at 6.50pm on Sunday on Julfar Road.
Police said the Emirati who was allegedly speeding rammed into another car that was being driven by a 19-year-old motorist. The Emirati died on the spot while the second driver sustained minor injuries.
Dr Yusuf Al Twair, head of the emergency department at Saqr Hospital said the victim had suffered severe bleeding on the brain and multiple fractures on the head and other parts of his body which caused his death.
“The man had died by the time he reached hospital,” he said adding that the other driver was sent home after getting treatment.
A senior traffic officer at RAK Police blamed the accident on speeding and a lack of concentration by the drivers.
He urged motorists who are fasting to always return home in plenty of time before iftar to avoid rushing which can lead to horrific accidents.
